Transition from Middle to Senior School is a positive start to students' final years at school, and aims to build on the success of existing programs supporting children and families from Middle and Junior partner sites.
Quality transition from Middle to Senior School is supported through our successful transition program utilising best practise through the sharing of information between children, families, educators, and outside agencies.
Transition experiences include scheduled school visits, combined classroom and sport activities, combined school camps and regular inter-school performances.
From their entry into Newcastle Senior School the emphasis for students changes to preparing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to participate effectively in the community. The transition process involves ensuring parents/carers and students are fully informed of the options available to them post-school. This is done through discussions and goal setting as part of the ILP process, attending the annual School Leavers Expo, visits by parents/carers and students to a range of post-school service providers as well as supporting students to spend time at their chosen provider prior to leaving school.
We continue to develop strong links between the school and service providers to ensure students and their families are fully prepared and get the best possible start to their post-school life.
