Therapy services in school

The school remains committed to developing opportunities to strengthen collaborative partnerships between teachers, therapy organisations and parents, with an ultimate goal of collaboration. The school takes the view that the therapy service being provided to students during school hours MUST relate to an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goal, or enhance access to curriculum outcomes.

We request that parents and therapy providers work with the school during ILP planning to ensure the therapy session goals have a direct relationship to an ILP goal, or enhance access to curriculum outcomes.

Each request for a therapy service to be conducted during school hours will be collaboratively negotiated during the planning process, however the Principal will have the final decision as to whether sessions can occur during school hours to ensure minimal disruption to learning, and ultimately ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and visiting therapists.

Parents and service providers should become familiar with the attached guidelines and ensure that any request for a service to be conducted during school hours be completed using Appendix 1, well in advance of any therapy session to allow time for collaboration and planning.
