All students attending Newcastle School have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). An ILP is developed in collaboration with teachers, parents and carers, support staff and may include other professionals.
These plans document the child's priority learning goals and the support they require to access the curriculum in a meaningful way. The outcome is a concise working document which summarises the educational plan for the learner.
The ILP document is reviewed each Semester with families. Parents or the school can request additional ILP meetings when necessary.
An ILP is not a plan of total instruction for students with disabilities. An ILP is simply one tool used to target specific skills. The class program will include other curriculum areas as well.
